I THOUGHT I HAD finally got the message across but there I was chatting to someone the other day who still thinks Margaret River can't do shiraz. Maybe early statements that this was cabernet country and all other varieties should be sent to purgatory have lingered, but it was time to get back into action again.

The cheif executive of Sandalford Wines, Grant Brinklow, said the 2011 vintage was one of the best in the last decade or two. " We're blessed in Western Australia because we don't get the vagarie that our cousins in the east are prone to", he said. "We've had lower rainfall in the last 12 months than the log-term average. The quality of the fruit has been exceptionally good."...
