This year celebrates the 50th anniversary of Motown, America’s greatest record label and a global music icon. To mark this momentous occasion, the legends of Motown music have reunited for a world premiere tour ‘The Motown Event’, which will tour Australia in February.

Sandalford Wines are proud to announce the Motown Event for a spectacular concert event to be held on the holiday long weekend at Sandalford Wines in the Swan Valley on Sunday February 28.

And how’s this for an incredible line-up? The Motown Event will star THE FOUR TOPS, THE TEMPTATIONS, MARY WILSON OF THE SUPREMES, MARTHA REEVES & THE VANDELLAS and THE MIRACLES.

Audiences will be treated to 35 of the biggest selling hits of all time, a veritable feast of Motown classics from the original artists themselves including: ‘Reach Out I’ll Be There’, ‘I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)’, ‘Baby I Need Your Lovin’ (THE FOUR TOPS), ‘My Girl’, ‘Ain’t Too Proud To Beg’, ‘Get Ready’, ‘Papa Was A Rolling Stone’, ‘The Way You Do The Things You Do’ (THE TEMPTATIONS), ‘Where Did Our Love Go’, ‘Stop! In The Name Of Love’, ‘Baby Love’, ‘Love Child’, ‘You Can’t Hurry Love’ (THE SUPREMES), ‘Heat Wave’, ‘Dancing In The Street’, ‘Nowhere To Run’, ‘Jimmy Mack’ (MARTHA REEVES AND THE VANDELLAS) and ‘The Tracks Of My Tears’, ‘Ooh Baby Baby’, ’I Second That Emotion’, ‘Love Machine’ (THE MIRACLES)

The concert will also star six-time Grammy-nominated American artist JOAN OSBORNE, who hit #1 on the Australian ARIA chart with ‘One Of Us’ and featured in the brilliant 2002 documentary ‘Standing In The Shadows Of Motown’, and two very special Australian guests who are no strangers to soul and r&b music. JIMMY BARNES has released three multi-platinum albums of soul music including the current ‘The Rhythm and The Blues’, and vocalist/guitarist IAN MOSS, who has just released ‘Soul On 54th Street’, are passionate about this musical genre and are the perfect Australian artists to join this superstar line-up.

The ‘a day on the green’ Motown Event will no doubt have music lovers dancing in the vines! The concert features over 35 of the biggest selling songs of all time. Each artist will have their own feature part of the show and then will come together for the Finale. These legendary voices will be backed by a world class 12-piece band directed by renowned MD Chong Lim.

This incredible concert line-up will never be repeated and is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience something very special.

I have attended two shows at Sandalford and the whole experience of concert and dining is amazing! The beautiful outdoor setting with a concert under the stars is unbeatable and by far my favourite venue in Perth to see a show. Keep up the good work Sandalford ... 10 out of 10.

What a bloody fantastic night! The band pulled off the hit machine sound perfectly, and even the non motowners (Joan Osborne & Barnsey) were amazing!

Thank you Sandalford! Keep em coming....

Cue jumpers

I thought the Motown concert was fantastic but I wasn't happy with the traffic management of getting into the grounds or out. We left home at approx 4:50 pm and we weren't that far away and traffic was crawling along at snails pace; it took well over an hour and a half (or more) to get into the grounds. We finally got into the grounds at 6:50 pm. That's nearly two hours!!! It took even longer to get out. There were a lot of very rude people trying to jump the cue upon leaving. We'd been waiting in a long cue for well over half an hour and people were just coming along jumping in their car and trying to push in. It was disgusting. I couldn't believe the gall of these people. The Leeuwin Estate concert is managed far better in comparison as it's a breeze getting in and out of there. I wasn't particularly impressed with the traffic management at all and there should have been either another exit or two lanes to get out!!! It's certainly put me off going again.

Awesome night.. but next time leave Barnesy at home

Had an awesome night at the Motown event - was great to hear the classics once again - next time though, leave Jimmy Barnes at home - he sounded like chalk on a blackboard and wouldn't know how to sing if his life depended on it - all he can do is scream - and his daughter followed suit!
