Hi Wine Club Members,
The great news from Sandalford Wines this month is that we went extremely well at The Western Australian Wine Industry Association Awards last week. Three major accolades were presented to Sandalford Caversham Estate at a gala dinner in Perth. The prizes awarded were as follows:
- Outstanding Contribution to a Region by an Individual, Winery/Vineyard or Regional Association: Sandalford's long standing contribution to the Swan Valley;
- Most Outstanding Cellar Door Facility / Wine Tourism Facility - Sandalford Caversham Estate
- Outstanding Wine Promotion / Wine Festival / Wine Event - The annual Carols in the Valley event held in partnership with the Swan City Church
This is the second year running that Sandalford Wines won the prize for BEST Cellar Door/Wine Tourism Facility in Western Australia (certainly no mean feat) - an achievement that is second to none.
This month we have some sensational wine specials so now is definitely the time to get your festive season wine order together.

 B52's
Sandalford Wines are proud to announce the first concert of the 2009/10
Summer Concert Series will be headlined by The B52s, with the Scottish
wonder twins The Proclaimers also on their way to Sandalford for what will
be an extremely fun evening of music and entertainment on Sunday December 6,
2009. Both The B-52s and The Proclaimers are renowned for their charismatic
live stage shows and raucous, uplifting music, so how much fun will this be!
Mental As Anything, who are celebrating their 30th anniversary, will kick
start the concert.
The B-52s – Kate Pierson, Fred Schneider, Keith Strickland and Cindy Wilson
- put Athens, Georgia on the musical map in the late '70s, with their quirky
and unconventional take on the new wave sound of the era. The band’s
pioneering fusions of punk, new wave, vintage rock and electronic music all
wrapped up in savvy hooks was an instant success. With three unique
vocalists, they were an upbeat irresistible party band – and the world
loved them!
So there you have it...... The B-52s, The Proclaimers and Mental As Anything
– three of the world’s best party bands all in one night! Don’t miss it.

 Carols in the Valley
Dreambuilders Church will once again be presenting “Carols in the Valley”
at Sandalford Wines on Sunday December 20, 2009.
In 2005 Dreambuilders Church Senior Ministers, Dale and Karen Hewitt, felt
it was time that the Swan Valley had a large scale Christmas Carols event in
the genre of “Carols by Candlelight” in Melbourne or “Carols in the
Domain” in Sydney. The event has been held every year since and has
attracted crowds in excess of 11,000 people.
“Christmas is a busy and often stressful time of the year and we see
‘Carols in the Valley’ as a great opportunity for the wider City of Swan
community to come together, relax, enjoy a sense of community and reflect on
the true meaning of Christmas” Pastor Dale Hewitt said.
“Carols in the Valley” is a free to the public event and is funded by
State and Local Government grants, local business sponsors and the generous
donations of the Dreambuilders Church members.
The event features the Dreambuilders Church band and choir as well as local
Western Australian tenor, Dave Smith, who is a great friend of “Carols in
the Valley”. As usual the event concludes with a Huge Fireworks Finale!
Entry to the event is free with a gold coin donation for onsite parking.
Gates open at 5.00pm with pre-show childrens entertainment commencing at
6.30pm. Carols begin at 7.30pm.

Ronan Keating Sandalford Wines are proud to announce the first concert at Sandalford’s Margaret River Vineyard, a truly unique, world class setting that is certain to become one of Australia’s most exciting outdoor concert venues.
International superstar Ronan Keating will undertake his first concert tour of Australia in eight years when he returns to our shores in 2010, playing to audiences at Sandalford Wines in the Swan Valley on Saturday 16 January, and our new concert site at Sandalford Margaret River the following night, Sunday 17 January.
The new Margaret River estate complements Sandalford’s other well established and extremely popular concert operations in the Swan Valley which since 2002 has played host to iconic international performers including Lionel Richie, John Fogerty, Harry Connick Jnr, Dionne Warwick, Alicia Keys, John Mellencamp, Sheryl Crow, Carol King, Missy Higgins, Pete Murray, Jimmy Barnes and Steely Dan among others to over 200,000 people.
Sandalford CEO, Grant Brinklow said; "The vision for Sandalford was to develop part of our 40 year old vineyard in the world famous Margaret River wine region into the premier winery concert venue in Australia. We are delighted to partner with Roundhouse Entertainment and Mellen Events in announcing the very first concert in Margaret River which will be part realisation of this vision. This announcement will coincide with the beginning of celebrations to commemorate two very important milestones the company celebrates in 2010 – 170 years of continuous trading (Sandalford was established in 1840) and 40 years since we commenced producing wine in Margaret River.

The tour’s very special guest will be the wonderful Tina Arena. Following two sold-out seasons of performances here in 2008 and 2009 and with sales of her recent album ‘Songs Of Love and Loss’ close to 200,000 units, Tina is looking forward to touring again.
Popular singer/songwriter Damien Leith, who has just released his new “Remember June” album, will open the concerts.

 MOTOWN
The Temptations will be heading to Sandalford this summer.
Motown magic is headed for Sandalford Wines.
Bringing together some of the world's best known Motown stars, including The Four Tops, The Temptations, Mary Wilson from The Supremes, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, and The Miracles, these two concerts will take audiences back to when Motown began - 50 years ago.
The Motown Event will be held at the winery in Margaret River and the Swan Valley on February 27 and 28.
The gig will include 35 of the biggest-selling hits of all time, classic Motown tunes including Reach Out I'll Be There, I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch), My Girl, Get Ready, The Way You Do The Things You Do, Stop! In The Name of Love and plenty more.
Six-time Grammy-nominated artist Joan Osborne and Australian guest artists Jimmy Barnes, who has released three soul music albums, and vocalist/guitarist Ian Moss, who has just released the album Soul On 54th Street, also join the line-up.
These vocalists will be backed by a 12-piece band directed by MD Chong Lim.
General admission tickets are $110.50 and tickets go on sale November 20 through Ticketmaster.
